That's funny, the 7520 was a bit on the bulky side. If they make one for the 7100i I hope they would make it a bit less thick.

Has anyone actually had one of these on the 7100t and if so, what did you think of it? This is the only "skin" type case that I have found where the screen of the phone faces "in" toward you, rather than being exposed to everything you could run into while having this attached to your beltclip.

Cheers.

I wrote them about the 8700c and was told they had no plans to make a case. I would even beta test it for them for free, maybe after move providers are selling the 8700 they will reconsider?

I am a little disappointed with this case.

I recieved mine last night and immediatley put it on. It indeed is extremely tight, so tight, that it doesn't wrap all the way around. There are 4 prongs that are on the screen protector that slid into the case, the 2 on the top sit correct, one of the bottom ones go half way in, the other not at all.

If there was a way to shrink the case, only the part around the screen, everything would fit perfect. The area around the screen seems to be too big.

Has anyone dealt with Speck customer service? I would like to send my case back and try another one. I figure if I am paying this much for a case, it should fit.

If you read around the threads for skintight cases, this is a known issue and I believe there is nothing you can do about it.

yeah, I didn't like it. The fit was just a bit loose in areas and it's so Star Trek looking. If it was smooth like the above case, I would have kept it but with all it's angles and corners, it looked to trekky for me. The other thing I didn't like is on the side where the ear piece and power plug are, instead of just leaving the space open, they tried to create a cover that can be peeled back to reveal the ports. The problem is that the flap just never laid down flap and looked awful also.

Thumbs down Great Idea, Not So Great Product, Poor Customer Service - 12-21-2005, 04:53 PM

I purchased the Skin Tight back in October. I had just gotten a warranty replacement of my 7100t and kept the protective plastic on the BB while I waited for my Skin Tight to arrive. I planned on keeping my screen in perfect condition for the life of the device. When the Skin Tight arrived, I removed the protective plastic from the BB and put it in its new home. Within a day (of regular use) I began to notice what I thought was moisture\cloudiness between the protective screen and the BB screen. A day later I took the case off to attempt to clean the smudge. To my surprise, the Skin Tight screen "protector" was scratching my flawless screen and the protector itself!!!

I immediately contacted Speck Products customer support via email and explained my dis-satisfaction and asked that they remedy the situation. In the meantime, I removed the protective lens and continued to use the skin tight with the holster minus the protective lens.

One month passed and I still had not heard back form Speck. I resubmitted the email copying any "@speckproducts.com" address I could think of (info, sales, support) asking if anyone was going to address my issue. Three days later, I received and email from someone in their shipping department saying they would send me a replacement screen (for their product I assumed). My response was that I didn't want another protective lens, but wanted an answer to the fact that my blackberry screen was damaged.

I later found Amy's email address from this thread and sent her my issue. She responded a few days later with "Thank you for your patience. We have received your email. We are doing everything we can to assist you ASAP. " Two days after that I received an email from rosie@speck saying "Thank you for your patience. We have received your email. We are doing everything we can to assist you ASAP. ".... Interesting, same exact response. That was 11/23/05. I have not heard from them since.

I have not been using the product since October and now just lock my BB and carry it in my pocket. Seems to be the best solution.

It's really a shame that they have come out with such a good concept but fail on the support side.

I see that the 7105t has a bit of a recessed screen. I would imagine the Skin Tight might work well with that.

Hope this info helps some of you were are considering the Skin Tight for the 7100t.

Default Skin Tight Case for 7100t - 01-11-2006, 10:26 AM

I also got this product just a few days ago. I have a terrible habit (as do many I assume) of dropping my Blackberry and usually kicking as it is dropped while I am walking. I agree with the review from martinijim. The "protective" screen does in fact scratch the screen on the device. I may take the idea that some have posted and purchase a seperate screen protector elsewhere and still use the rubber casing. This case does fit quite snug to the device and provides good protection IMO. I have dropped it twice since having this. I will also say that I do enjoy having the Send and End keys covered by the rubber case because it actually makes it easier for people like me with GARMOUNGUS hands to hit these keys. The only other gripe that I have is that on the SpeckProduct site, the picture shows that device in the clip with the screen facing towards your body. That is great because the screen is protected. However, I found that the sleep mode does not work unless you place the phone in the clip with the screen facing out (if I am wrong and someone knows a way to change this let me know).

I give this case a 6 out of 10 (10 being the best) IMO.

One more thing...if you are thinking of carrying your device in your pocket with this case on it....forget about it! I got the thing in my pocket at home and literally had to almost take my pants off to get it back out.

Wow. Ok. First Post for you. Well first I would try to search the forum for AIM. Second, I am dead sure that you are not going to find anything regarding AIM in the thread labled SKIN TIGHT CASE REVIEW! Maybe take 5 min and look over the forum before you post things like this just anywhere. You will prob find your answer 1,000 times faster that way.

I had the same experience. I like the fact that the case is easy to hold on to but it works against you when you are trying to get it out of your pocket. A pocket is the only option however since the holster lets go of my blackberry too often.
Hard to believe Speck can't come up with a better holster design.

Default I like my Skin Tight for my 7100, but.... - 03-10-2006, 03:29 PM

Got my Skin Tight for my 7100t last month. I really like it but it is too "sporty" for me. Now am using a cheap clip holster for it that I got on eBay similar to what I used on my Nokia phone prior to getting my BB.

I have it for sale on eBay :

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MESE%3AIT&rd=1

Anyway, I have it for 25 plus shipping, but for a member here I will deliver it for $25. Let me know.

BTW: martinijim can easily fix his screen with this product:

http://www.blackberryden.com/displex.html

I was a little skeptical, but it works amazingly well - My BB showed up with a couple of dings in it. Was used. Now screen is pristine.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

When will the 8700c compatible case be available? I have a few users that are interested. We all have 8700c's....

Well, I've been using the Speck SkinTight for my 7100T for a while now - about 4-6 months, I can't remember exactly.

Anyway, like the above, I was real excited when I got it. It fit like a glove, seemed to provide a lot of protection, etc, etc. I was in love.

But now, after having been using it for many months, I'm a bit disappointed in the durability of it. Here's a few comments/critiques:

1. I got the clear one because I thought it looked cool. However, over time, it has turned dark/dirty. I haven't tried washing it yet, and may give that a shot, but I was surprised at how normal handling caused it to look "grimy" like that, when I take good care of my BBs. If I were to do it over again, I'd pick the black one.

2. The rubber has stretched out over time. The plastic screen cover insert no longer stays in place perfectly and moves around a lot. Frequently now (it didn't happen in the beginning - remember, this is after several months), when putting the 7100T in the belt clip, just the pressure of the top of the clip pressing down on the top of the gloved blackberry causes the screen protector to shift around and sometimes pop out.

3. The top clip of the belt-clip/holder thingy is not centered, but rather off-set to one side. This has caused more compression of the rubber on one side of the skintight case than the other, and over time, that side has become looser (most evident with the thin strip of rubber on the sides, by the screen).

4. If you are not real careful, dirt or small particles can easily find their way between the screen protector and the blackberry screen. Then...any slight shifting of the screen can rub these particles on your BB screen, causing scratches. This has happened to my 7100T, and as a result, I took the screen protector out of the case to prevent further scratches.

Here's a pic of the discoloration. Again, normal use, I work in an office, am never around unclean environments, etc. (Sorry for the pic quality, but I had to turn off the flash so you could see the difference between the plastic holster and the dirty rubber).

Here are two pictures showing how the thin strips of rubber stretch out over time. I couldn't use the plastic screen protector now even if I wanted to.

Just wanted to give my $0.02 on the case. I loved it for the first month or so. Then it was downhill. I'll be sticking to the leather pouch type cases from now on...I already have the RIM OEM Leather case from SPD, and I'll likely buy the open-top Fortte pouch as well.

Cheers.
