Users e-mails wont delete - but they do everything else.
The user has a Blackberry 8800 and can recieve emails fine on the device, send find etc but when they delete from the handheld it wont delete from Outlook. I have paired the device up with another user and everythings works fine. Also if I use the BESAdmin account to browse the users inbox I have the necessary rights to delete etc.
Sounds obvious, but first things first... is handheld set to delete on Handheld, Mailbox & Handheld or is it set to prompt?
Hi thanks for the quick response, its set to delete on Mailbox and handheld and on conflict mailbox wins.
How long are you waiting for the delete the process? What version of Exchange (service pack too) and BES (service pack too) are you running? What version of Outlook client (service pack too) ... and are you running in cached mode?
Hi I've left it over night and still no joy although the device sync's straight away with calander updates and read e-mails.
As for versions - exchange is 2003 SP2 BES is 188.8.131.52 Outlook 2003 not in cached mode latest Service Pack.
Well first verify that wireless reconcile is working:
Send two emails from the user's mailbox
Delete - Outlook
Delete - Blackberry
Wait for both to deliver to both the user's mailbox & Blackberry.
Delete Outlook in Outlook, Delete Blackberry on Blackberry'
On Blackberry / messages / Bring up options and reconcile now.
Messages should delete on each location. You could also test the Purge Deleted Messages on the Blackberry.
If that all works it's working fine and likely a user workflow thing.
How old is the email that won't delete .. BES only tracks the last 100 by deafult. Is the email still in the mailbox?
If you have a large exchange environment you could move the mailbox as it cleans up quirkiness.
Hi - thanks again for all the replies....
@jletendre yeah unfortunatly I have tried all the mentioned above. Its any e-mail not just old ones.
Gonna try (when I get the device back) creating a new folder in Outlook and only synchronizing that folder then set up a rule in exchange to put new mail that folder and see if it deletes from there. Will keep you guys posted, thanks again
Sorry had to shout that. Thanks to your name, I've had "Mr Loverman - SHABBA!" playing in my head for the last hour. Meh.
ha ha my user name on all the Forums is Shabbaranks and everyone says "Shabba" brings a smile to my face if nothing else :O)
Anyway my trick seemed to have kicked the Blackberry into action. Assigned the new folder with the Blackberry sent an e-mail deleted etc and all was fine. Then took the rule off and now it seems to be deleting from the inbox - computers/blackberry's/technology gotta luv it huh?!
