Default Can SMTP service be installed/running?

Please Login to Remove!

My BES server is also hosting our corporate website. In order to send forms via email, I need to have the SMTP service running. Can I do this without screwing up BES?

thanks,
Joel

Are you Using Lotus or Exchange? How is the BES configured to route email now from the handheld to external addresses?

In Domino, it doesnt hurt...

In domino: You can have SMTP task turned on the Domino Server. It uses a configuration document to route to your smtp server ie postini or a server address. I have seen in cases that it will route to your smtp server automatically OR will route directly to the smtp server in your environment.

I do not have SMTP turned on anymore since we moved to Postini. I simply entered the smtp server in the Server Configuration Document.

Yes you can do this. It is not recommended AT ALL, but it isn't an unsupported configuration.
