The company i work for has split into two separate organizations.

Company A: is currently running BES 4.0 SP1 server w/ 80 some odd users
Company B: i just built a BES 4.0 SP1 server w/ 2nd SRP

All the BB units that i will be moving from Co A to B (about 20) are running old firmware so wireless activation is not in the mix.
I was just going to remove the units from CO A's bes server and add to Co B's bes. Can someone enlighten me that all i need to do is have the users dock their units and associate their current PIN numbers w/ new BES server via desktop software? Will the old info remain intact on units? Is there any gotcha's that i don't know about.

The devices will need to be cradled (if not v4) and a new security key generated, then synchronised. Are the two BES's on completely different mail servers? It shouldnt matter that much really, since it will sync your local address book via cable. your calendar will change according to the new mail server though.

Is this Domino, Exchange, or Groupwise?

The only way any information would remain intact would be if you were using the same database and/or the mail servers were in the same environment. If you are simply moving these users to a completely new environment, then they will most likely have to recradle or reactivate. If IT Policy is in use, then you definitely will.

Of course you will loose database information moving to the new BES, but the device itself wont loose the address book and such. It will need to be reactivated, via cable synch or enterprise activation. This is true for all flavours of BES really.

In domino, the database wont be lost, it will still have the same ID number it was originally assigned when intially created. When moving to a new bes and creating the user's as NEW, then the db ID number is changed of course. In V4, let it create as new and then it will still pull all the user information (in Domino, as long as its I-Notes).

i'm running exchange 5.5 and moving all users to new independent exchange site..and to a new BES db. In time these servers will be on their own seperate network. Not to concerened that info will be wiped out when they sync to the new db, i just want to make sure units function after docked. :-]

They will function fine as long as they exist on the server. being on 4.0, the Enterprise Activation takes care of all the manual Labour involved.
