Default 2 Exchange Domains, 1 BES server

Please Login to Remove!

Howdy guys, can see I'm going to get a fair bit of use out of this site... And quickly to all you Domino Admins.... I love and I miss it, so no talk of Domino and it sweet ass whilst I'm around..... Ok so onto the question....

New to all this Exchange BES action... so consider me a newbie..

Currently running 1 BES server around 60cals, talking to the one exchange dom email domain spread across 7 or so servers.. Now we have just aquired a new business (Well the IT department is now also looking after the mother company) and the new company want total seperation from the current company... Ok so what they don't know wont hurt them..... We are going to create a new domain in the forest and have a nice little trust for us admins to do stuff... We are going to plonk an exchange server over in their location but it will be part of our exchange network,, (just using a different domain)

Ok so, firstly is this possible ?? I assume that it is.. Secondly , anyone got a step by step or a quick guide to ?? I really have no idea where to start...

BES 4.1.25 (looking to upgrade)
Exchange 2003 sp1 (not far off sp2)
win2k3 sp2

1 Domain per BES.
But don't take my word for it... I'm just a lowly Domino guy.

Welcome to the forums!

Domains aren't a barrier for Exchange ... but rather Organizations are. You can have 100 AD domains all in the same Exchange Org ... and they can even be using different delivery addresses with no problem. If you're creating a new Exchange Organization you'll need a new BES for that environment. If you're just adding this server to your existing org then you won't need to.

From reading what you've posted, you're connecting to another pre-existing Exchange Org ... and you'll need another BES.

Oh ... and penguin3107 ... he's not a lowly Domino guy ... he's just lowly; ZING!

hey cheers for the replies...

The new company has a hosted Exchange enviroment at the moment, on a SBS server, so we are taking that over, blowing it away, and adding their domain to our ORG , But as far as they are concern they have nothing to do with us (("IT guys snigger as we get funding for new servers for dedicated services that don't exsist ) Ha ha, gotta love VMWare...

So it sounds like it is totally workable... nice.

Yeah, there is no way to integrate BES into this unless you have them export their mail to PST and then create new mailboxes for them in your environment ... and then connect them to those.
