Default New guy with couple questions!!!

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys,

Just signed up on the forums looking to see if I could find a couple answers to a couple of questions that we have been running into at work!

Question 1: Originally we setup mailbox connectors on our blackberry web clients to pop our email. Now that we have a exchange server we no longer do any popping of our email. The connector however created a separate folder on our phone specifically for our email. This was nice because it was easy for some of our less technically oriented people to use. However once we removed the pop info from the web clients we now get everything in the messages folder. This includes the email, sent and received, phone calls made and received, etc. This can make it very difficult to navigate. Is there any way to create a seperate icon on the blackberry 7100i for email specifically using the bes 4.1.4 server? If so how do we do it?

Question 2: We were setting up folder redirection on our phones. The tree was as follows

Inbox
- foldera
-folderb
- folderc
- folderd
- foldere
- folderab

The box for inbox was checked but for some reason it did not propogate to the rest of the folders below it and whenever you add a new folder I have to manually go in and check the new folder even though the parent box "inbox" is checked.

If anyone has and suggestions on these two issues were running in to I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for helping a new guy! Late.

All items go into the "messages" area, any pop accounts added will get their own icon, there is no way to change this. You can filter out the phone calls and sent items, so only e-mail shows.

When new sub folders are created the user will have to go in and check the box to include it for redirection, or the BES admin can do it from the server. It is not automated.

As the lovely ladydi has pronounced that's a feature of BES..but each end-user can tweak there own settings a little that might help..

to turn off display of sent messages go to the message list, select options, general options, and set "hide sent messages" to yes

Oh and if you use text messages you may find that these get 'lost' in the general messages folder (can't remember with the 7100s for sure) - the solution for that is some themes create a separate text message folder, or upgrade your devices to 4.2 code devices (81xx, 83xx, 88xx) which all have a seperate 'text message' in box.
