Default PreAdoption Qs about BES

Please Login to Remove!

Can anyone help...

1. We have users of Blackberry on several different networks in uk (O2, Voda, Orange). If we adopt the BES on our Exchange server can they all use it, without a change of wireless operator?

2. Am I right in thinking that they WILL all need to change from BIS contract to BES contract with their operator?

3. If we add an existing Blackberry device to a one BES installation, can we later change it to a different BES? Is this easy? Does it involve the wireless operator?

Thanks for any help

Yes. They can all use it regardless of operator, provided they are all on the Enterprise plan - communication goes from BES to RIM to the relevant mobile network operator and from there to the device. Whilst there are benefits in putting all devices on the same network, especially if calling each other, then they can function if on different networks. We have several customers with mixed networks, largely to solve local coverage issues (often the MD's house)

YES YES YES. 50% of any activation issues you have will be that the operator won't have upgraded the subscription correctly.

Yes this is easy, no it doesn't involve the operator. Simply disable existing user, wipe the device on old BES. Re-activate as a new device on the new BES. No operator contact/knowledge required, provided SIM card is on the BES plan.

No problems happy to help - drop me a PM if you're interesting in some BBF pricing on BB's in the UK - we're an authorised O2 / VF service provider.
