Question BES Express 4.1.4 on SBS 2003 R2 SP2

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I installed BES Express on SBS 2003 R2. Everything was fine, until I launch blackberry manager, it give error "failed to open default message store using the MAPI profile 'BlackBerry Manager'", Event log showing "[ExchangeAdaptorDLL::Initialize] Failed to open default message store, result=0x8004011d." Is this still permission issue?
Configurations are SBS R2 SP2 with BackupExec SBE. Installed database on MSDE SBSNAME\BKUPEXEC, double verified all permissions need for BESAdmin.

Thanks.

Hey there BESBee, welcome to the forums!

Have you logged in as the BESAdmin account? Search the forum for 0x8004011d and you'll see many people with similar MAPI errors.

ok - Launch the "Edit MAPI Profile" (Open BlackBerry Server Configuration app, and on the BlackBerry Server tab you'll see this).

remove the exchange server name, and type it in again (along with removing and readding your besadmin account in its field) and click "Check Name" ... does it present any errors?

If you do that and click ok and then launch the bes manager do you receive the same error?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8703e/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Have you ever been able to successfully launch the bes manager without error?

If you are within your first 90 days of install, you get 1 free support call to BlackBerry TSupport. The wait times can be long but they will get everything up and running.

Yes, RIM will support it ... if you're within the first 90 days as previously said or if you're willing to pay for support.

I have some error:
Quote:
[ExchangeAdaptorDLL::Initialize] Failed to open default message store, result=0x8004011d.
When I try your advice to Launch the "Edit MAPI Profile" I receive error:
Quote:
The MAPI subsystem cannot be correctly initialized and used. Please make sure MAPI is installed and configured properly
Can you anybody tell me to do something?

Thanks in advance.

Have you installed the MAPI components as required through the installation documentation?

RIM's Product Documentation Library

and

KB10142 - Failed to open the default message store

Check them both out.

But it is SBS2003, right? So Exchange is on the same box. He doesn't need any extra MAPI components...RIM support is not gonna be happy with SBS. Are you using BESAdmin acct. to install bes or Administrator?

Talk about totally screwing the pooch on this one; you're absolutely correct. Even the thread title has SBS ... heh, I'm sorry.

Ignore my comments about the MAPI profile as fadmin has correctly said and check out the 2nd link I sent..

Thanks for the catch fadmin

Default same issue, but part of the way there...

I've had the same issue. Then I tried reinstalling using the besadmin account. The installation went smooth and I opened the Blackberry Manager without issue.

The problem is that I cannot open the Manager when logged in as the administrator. Is there a rights issue possibly? I can't imagine I should have to login as the besadmin everytime I want to use the Blackberry Manager.

Thoughts?
