I have perused the forums (and the web), but have not found a definitive answer to my question. I could have missed it. If so, apologies in advance.
I admin a BES 3.6 Enterprise (not SMB) with 30 CALs. We have GREATLY reduced our BB usage in favor of Pocket PCs (yeah, I know), and in fact, are only using 5 BES CALs now. My question is, if I "upgrade" to 4.1 Express, will I instantly have the max of 15 CALs available to the Express installation? What happens to my other 15 CALs, do they stay installed, and would they immediately become available if I then upgrade to the full version of 4.1 later?
If so, any caveats on this? Tips or tricks for the upgrade process?

I would call RIM for an answer on this. Technically I haven't tried it so I don't know ... but from a licensing perspective I'm not sure how it would work.

It shouldn't matter. When you upgrade to 4.1 using the 4.1 installer, it should maintain your existing BES Server CAL key which will license the 4.1 installation for whatever level of BES you currently own - you do not have to install with the BES Express key that you receive nor will you have to assuming it does an upgrade. I assume this is because you do not have TSupport and thus cannot obtain updates - I'm all about subverting The Man.
