Question Activation password question - 11-08-2007, 01:21 PM

I've recently inherited My company's BES 4.1 server and we're in the midst of a semi large roll-out to our users.

What I'd like to be able to do is use the BES Admin feature of Generate and Email Activation Password, however I'm told that many of the devices wil not be delivered with the 48 window when the password will be valid.

I realize there is an inherent risk in extending the window, but we're wiling to accept that to prevent additional deployment tasks.

Can we change the default timeout period to be 7 days?

Thank you in advance

Sure. Under Global, change the Auto-Generated Password Lifespan to 168.

...I might be tempted to check that a generated password really will work after a week though, before putting the handhelds in the post. I've never waited that long myself, and have heard it alleged (by a customer*) that in one version of BES 4.1 it didn't work, even with a long timeout set.

*so probably slightly less reliable than a "friend of a friend"!

We have customers using Exchange BES 4.1.2 and 4.1.4 that extended times like this and have no problems at all. In fact they even use the BRK the majority of the time ...
