Question Extremly slow mail delivery - 11-14-2007, 12:58 PM

Dear All,

We are having 2 BES 4.0 with SP7 servers on an Exchange 2000 environment. The issue we are facing is with one of the BES; users on this BES has a very slow mail delevery; it takes minimum 8 minutes and a maximum of 12-15 minutes. I have checked the permission; we have send as, receive, administer information store permission on both server level also we have view only rights on the admin group level.

One thing i have noticed is; as soon as i send mail to users on this BES; pending items are incremented and will wait for 8-15 minutes and will delever all mails together.

What could be the issue; i feel since the pending items are getting incremented as soon as i send mails issue cannot be because of a permission issue. it could be something else.

BlackBerry - BlackBerry | Wireless Handheld Devices, Software & Services from Research In Motion (RIM)

Download the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Resource Kit and check out the Message Receipt Confirmation Tool and MessageFlow.

If you send the user a PIN message does it arrive immediately?

Do you have anything in your application event logs that indicate anything?

You'll need the BRK as suggested ... read the included user_guide.pdf. If you're comfortable posting logs we can look through them, otherwise the tools will lead you on your path.

It does sound like the server is picking up new mail on rescan only.

There have been issues in the past with MS updates blocking UDP packets. Can't remember the specific updates.

Also, if your Exchange is remote and the link has high latency, there could be dropped UDP packets.

In your logs you will probably see "Queuing new mail through rescan" more than "Queuing new mail through notification"
