Anyone using it with Novell Groupwise?

Any comment on the performance and sync problem?

It works the same way as Exchange and it is pretty solid. What is it exactly you want to know?

Pros:

1. You get all your PIM data synced (email, calendar, address book, notes, tasks).
2. Best solution out there
3. Short phone queues when obtaining support (fewer customers probably)

Cons:

1. There is a potential maximum 4 hour delay when syncing the Address Book from GroupWise to BlackBerry.
2. Service packs come out a few months later after Exchange

Sync problem? Are you talking about the potential for a 4 hour delay on calendar and address book entries?

The 4 hour delay is typical to update the address book. What version of BES do you use?

I agree with what has been said above.

I would also add:

1. GW system address book contacts should be updated when they are updated in the system address book (they should not create new contacts when copied to personal address books - Novell problem)

2. Enable multiple GW address books to sync to Blackberry handheld

3. Do not tie Top Secret sync to server and handheld software version (I have a 4.1 server and a bunch of 4.2 handhelds).

Default BES fixes

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that with BES 4 and one of the later service packs fixes the 4 hour address book issue. At least I believe it does. My CEO's address book is pretty much live updates as he makes changes.

W use groupwise 7.22 with BES 4.?? and it works great. It works so good that I early upgraded to a blackberry.

The only cons I have are this...

1. Only one address book can be setup to sync
2. If you have anything in your contact list before you start syncing with a BES then none of your contacts will come over to your blackberry.'

So far no major issues. Everything seems to be working great.

thanks

Mike

The Address book problem is fixed via converting the BES for GW into SOAP mode rather than API mode. API mode will cause the 4 hour delay due to programming/api limitations. Where as in SOAP, everything is transmitted over the SOAP protocol. Do a search on the forums, you'll see some users actually using this mode and praising the real time effectiveness when transitioning to the mode and not have to dealing with the 4hr contact delays again.

Hope this helps.
