We are having an intermittent problem of some users who have been moved from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2007 will create an appointment on the BB but it will not not sync to the Outlook. They can synch a new contact from the BB to OL, but not a new appointment on the BB to OL. They can go to their OL and synch an appointment to the BB. Wireless settings are enabled. It is not happening to all users. Has anyone else seen this?
Kattisch,
Did you ever fix this? We are seeing the same problems with our Alpha group. Exchange 2007 SP1, MAP CDO 1.21 w/ BES 4.1.4 MR4

Default BB Professional software 4.1.4 sp4A Exchange 2007 SP1 - 04-04-2008, 07:35 AM

For what it's worth (I can't seem to find a BB professional software specific thread), everything is working fine on my small install:

Windows 2003 R2
Exchange 2007 SP1
BB pro software 4.1.4 SP4A

We only have a few users but the install went smoothly with Exchange 2007 and BB pro software on the same box. Our exchange environment is very small as well, less than 10 users.

I've been wanting to test this all out on Server 2008 but it looks like I'll wait till sp5 for that.

I'm not sure this information is very useful for you guys nor do I know what exactly the difference between the pro software and BES (besides ~3k).

Is this fix publicly available or is it by request only from RIM?

Unless something has changed I think it might be very hard to get from RIM. Just before I got it from WillFulmer I had asked RIM on several occasions about the patch and if I could even test the beta and none of the techs seemed to know it existed.

I'm having an issue with a client. Ex2007SP1 and I installed BES 4.1.4 MR4. Everything is working fine, but... HTML mails are showing empty on the devices.
Doesn't matter whether the mails come from external of internal senders.

RIM seems unwilling to look into this as SP1 is not supported yet....
Anyone?

thanks,
Gerritjan

Does anyone know if the OOF fix has been included in SP5? I've looked through all of the documentation released with/about SP5 and can't see anything related to Exchange 2007 or OOF messages?

Were to I find the steps to get Exchange 2007 SP1 x64 ready for BPS?? I don't see anything here other than people migrating from 2003 to 2007 and we are certainly not migrating.

Thanks

As far as I know it is NOT included, I've been told by RIM that it will be in 4.1.5sp1 (not to be confused with 4.1.5 )

Cool Do you still need sendas rights for Exchange 2007 - 04-22-2008, 03:47 PM

We have a Dev exchange 2007 hooked to our Dev Blackberry server and on the 4 test users that I have activated devices with they do not have the Blackberry admin account in the Send As Rights in AD, but they are able to send from their Device just fine. Does anyone no if the dir structure for permissions in 2007 is such that we can elimante this step from a Blackberry setup process for new users to our infrastructure?

Default BES move and upgrade - 04-29-2008, 10:22 AM

My company is upgrading from Exchange 2000 to 2007, and I'm in charge of the BES. I just wanted to make sure I have all our ducks in a row, as we only have one SRP, so we can't create a test server:

1) Move BES (version 4.0.4) from old server to new server using the knife-over technique from RIM's documentation.
2) Upgrade BES (on new server) to 4.1.4. Exchange 2000 will still be in place.
3) A few weeks later, the upgrade to Exchange 2007 will begin, at which point, both the 2000 and 2007 servers will exist in parallel for a few weeks while mailboxes are moved. The only thing I plan on doing is installing the MAP CDO client for Exchange 2007 compatibility.

Do these steps look good, or am I missing something? Thanks.

Cool Problems with Berrystats reportin in 2007 - 05-12-2008, 11:53 AM

It looks like the sql view in berrystats will not poll the entire exchange server name from the serverDN dir. In 2007 Microsoft has changed this field spacing in the DN. So the string is longer in 2007 then 2003. The string in 2007 and 2003 I have pasted below....
================================================== =====
/o=Cargill/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn="My 2007 Exchange Server Name"/cn=Microsoft Private MDB
================================================== ======
/o=Cargill/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=="My 2007 Exchange Server Name"/cn=Microsoft Private MDB
================================================== =====

In the SQL view it polls the server name by using
SUBSTRING(CAST(dbo.UserConfig.ServerDN AS varchar(100)), PATINDEX('%Servers/cn=%',
dbo.UserConfig.ServerDN) + 11, PATINDEX('%/cn=Microsoft%', dbo.UserConfig.ServerDN) - (PATINDEX('%Servers/cn=%', dbo.UserConfig.ServerDN)
+ 11)) AS ExchServer

Going forward with exchange 2007 you will not be able to use this because the spacing is different on the server DN.
Berrystats only polls the first 7 digits and does not give you the entire exchange server name for that field.

If anyone has worked on this please let me know.

Wondering if this post by RIM will be able to help.
Free/Busy information is not displayed on the BlackBerry smartphone when Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 is running in native mode
Quote:
When Microsoft® Outlook® 2007 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 are running in native mode, they use the Availability Service (via Auto Discover) to determine free/busy data, so there is no Public Folder for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to find.

Looking for that perfect signature, hmm.

Question OOF Patch ?? - 07-14-2008, 04:56 AM

We have just upgraded to Exchange 2007 and have been caught out by the OOF problem. So far RIM have totally ignored our help desk calls.

It would be a great help if you could send us a copy to nmbinsurance at googlemail.com

Thank you in advance for your consideration

regards

Simon, welcome to BBF!

There is already a thread discussing this topic Out of Office (OOF) Corruption with BlackBerry/BES (Exchange 2007). That said, if you need a patch, you really should be contacting TSupport for an official release. Anyone providing you a patch they receive from RIM is probably violating the license agreement they've agreed to. I would really recommend calling RIM.

Default Upgrade to SP6 and 2007 SP1 - advice please - 08-28-2008, 04:02 PM

Howdy - I will be upgrading our exchange from 2003 sp2 to 2007 sp1 running on a 2008 64-bit platform. If I'm reading this thread correctly, it is probably best to perform the following steps - please let me know if you think otherwise:
1. upgrade bes from 4.1.3.16 to SP6 (4.1.6) - this is my first BES responsibility - these SPs don't cost anything, right? Free to download and install?
2. install 2007 SP1 on 2008 server
3. remove ESM on BES and install Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 (v 6.5.8039.0)
4. start moving folks over to the new exchange server

I don't know if removign ESM on the BES will break it for the folks that aren't moved. What about that?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Please forgive me...

Oh dear Lord almighty, where do I begin?

Long story short, I'm the new IT guy and have walked into the bad side of a less than successful Exchange/BES migration. As best as I understand, we swung over from an Exchange 2003 server to a new server with Exchange 2007 (I am assuming SP1, do not have access to this server). We also moved users off of the existing BES to one located in New York... This was supposed to have happened AFTER our MPLS implemenation happening this weeeknd, oh well.

Problems out of the gates...

RIM recommended creating a local BES, which we did. We are slowly ironing out a bunch of kinks, but still having random issues, including:

User JSMITH cannot accept some meeting requests, they show up as messages, with no option to Accept. Happens at random.

User MSMITH (no relation) creates new contacts on the BB, they do not sync with Outlook.

User KJONES gets duplicated Calendar items and Contacts.

User FDAVIS gets duplicated Calendar items only.

User LMACK gets duplicated E-mails (like 50 or so with the same Date/Time stamp, several days in a row... 20 on the first day, 15 more the next day, 10 more the next, etc. SAME MESSAGE FROM DAY 1)

User JSMITH (again, he's a real high maintenance kinda guy) tries to reply to e-mails, can draft the response but there is no "Send" option, and sometimes there is, but when he sends he has to re-send several times.

User GHART cannot sync Tasks

it keeps going and going, with no apparent rhyme or reason.

BES is 4.1.3.18 on a desktop PC running Server 2003 (interim box until MPLS) 2GB memory.

Event Viewer "Warnings" include:(boat loads of these)

BlackBerry Messaging Agent: {username} CDOCalendar::Initialize - Exception handled

BlackBerry Policy Service: {usernamef@domain.com, PIN=8675309, UserId=1286}RequestHandler::SendKeyRegenerationReq uest: Sending Key Regeneration request to device

event Viewer "Errors" include:

Application Error: Faulting application CalHelper.exe, version 4.1.3.15, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.3959, fault address 0x0002bc32.

BlackBerry Router: [SERVICE_RELAY_SESSION:T57329594:003ed268] Service transaction not found. SERVICESESSION_TAG=11992671

BlackBerry Syncronization Service: [SYNC-Gate] Failed to get last ChangeNumber from SyncServerState table, can't continue to check user config change.

Should we just sit back and wait for MPLS and new BES? My spidey senses say YES, but I am also trying to learn from experience, and would like to be able to identify the issues a little better.

Does the O/S on the device have any part in this fiasco? We have about 7 different models to support, not sure which ones yet, but the majority are the hockey pucks... 8703e's

Any advice, other than to quit now while I'm ahead, would be greatly appreciated.

You may need to install the Microsoft CDO Library 1.2.1 at
Download details: Collaboration Data Objects, version 1.2.1

and make sure Microsoft Outlook is NOT installed first.

8120 - 4.5.0.81 (Wi-Fi is sweet!)
8100 - 4.5.0.81 (backup)
8310 - 4.5.0.81 (The Ball & Chains device)
BES 4.1.6 MR1 (60)
Exchange 2007 SP1
