Default Emails deleted on Blackberry not deleted in Outlook - 06-27-2005, 03:53 PM

I have a client that is using email hosted offsite and when the Outlook client downloads the email it puts it on the information store on the Exchange server. Using this method they can be out of the office while leaving their systems on in the office and get their email on the Blackberry. However, when they delete the message on the blackberry it does not remove it from the information store and when they delete the message from within Outlook it is still on the Blackberry. It seems that the Cached Mode that Outlook is running in would cause the issue of the inbox storing the mail message locally regardless of the message state on the server, but I just want to confirm that this is a caching problem and not something else. Anyone have any experience with this issue.

Thanks,

Jason

Click in Messages then Options then Email Reconciliation then Delete On and change to Mailbox & Handheld

Is this on the Blackberry device itself or under the Blackberry manager on the server?

device. also, the process that reconciles the messages runs in 20 minute intervals for each user, so it could potentially take up to 20 minutes for the message to be removed from Outlook. just make sure they know that part of it, so WHEN they do complain about it not deleting (while they are actively managing their email from their handheld even though they are sitting at their desk and staring directly at Outlook), you can smirk and state that you have already told them the answer.

I am having a similar problem. My user sits at his desktop and "cleans" it out deleting around 20-30 emails, they are still on the deleted folders. however they will stay on the handheld. The funny and annoying part is that if I send Test emails they delete both ways (from handheld or outlok) however the 20-30 other emails stay on the handheld! I have BES 3.6 and handhelds 4.0 Exchange and Outlook 2003. I already contacted RIM and they send Test messages as well.. this messages reconciled perfectly but the other emails didn't. we ended up clearing all the messages from the handheld and 2 days later he had the same problem!!! Please HELP!!!!!

I had the same problem and found that my users were deleting their email and then clearing out the deleted items folder. In order for the sync to work the deleted items folder has to be left intact after messages are deleted from the inbox.

That is what I thought he was doing but the emails are in the deleted folders.

I found that if you force a Reconcile Now on your handheld it will force the unit to update in both places. Oddly enough when you reply to a message it updates the one message but it doesn't seem to reconcile the rest when it sends...anyone else notice that?

Any test message that I send him now will reconcile perfectly.. but the 20-30 messages that are sitting on his deleted folders are still showing on the Handheld! It is weird!

What I noticed is the following.

If I delete a message in Outlook and delete the message from the "Deleted Items" before the synchronisation took place the message will stay forever on my Blackberry.
But when I do a "recover deleted items" for the messages which are still on my device it synchronizes the Blackberry again with my Outlook and it's up to date again!

Still having a lot of problems with users about out of sync devices.

Also, if the user moves email to another folder then the emails won't be removed from the Berry. Also, if you are running BES 4.0, check the PIM Sync tab on the user's properties to make sure it is set to server wins or whatever you want.
