Question Sametime and BES

Please Login to Remove!

I've downloaded and installed the Sametime BlackBerry client, but the instructions (below) reference the Collaboration Service, but I don't believe this module is currently installed on our BES server.
Error 302 appears when logging into BlackBerry Instant Messaging for IBM Lotus Sametime

Questions:
1) Can I safely install the Collaboration Service without disrupting our present BES/Sametime configuration?

2) Can I install the Collaboration Service such that both of our corporate BES servers (BES for Domino and BES for Exchange) can "share" the service?

3) Per the question above, could I install the CS on one of the BES servers, then simply add both BES IP's to the Sametime database's Trusted IPS field?

4) From what I've read, only one BlackBerry Instant Messaging service (e.g. BlackBerry, Sametime, etc.) may be enabled. If this is true, would all of our BlackBerry's need to conform to Sametime for IM?

5) Are there any other unforeseen Sametime "gotchas" that could encourage us from not going this route?

Thank you

What BES/Sametime configuration are you running? Are you using the Lotus Sametime client for BlackBerry?

You can install Sametime CS on Domino and Exchange BES and point them 1 Sametime server.

You need to add IPs of all servers pointing to the Sametime server.

You can only run 1 IM services per BES.

Default Re: BES/Sametime

Thanks for the feedback x14.

In speaking with an external Tech, it was confirmed that we would need (2) instances of the CS install.

The Tech indicated that, due to TCPIP socket connection utilization, the CS is best installed on a separate (non-BES/non-Sametime) server or Virtual Server.

At this point, I'm not sure whether the end justify the means with the product.

Don't know what your configuration is but our production mirrored BES with CS installed supports 850+ BlackBerry devices with about 100+ using BlackBerry Enterprise Messenger for Sametime with no issues.
