Default Mailbox Moving Problems - 06-30-2005, 08:57 AM

Hello All,

I am somewhat new to the BES environment and now find myself the sole administrator of a 3.6 no SPs BES server.

In my environemnt i have 2 exchange servers, one is 2000 the other is 2003. The majority of my users are on the 2003 server, but all of my BB users are on the 2000 server. I am now making a push to move these users to the 2003 server. I have been testing this this morning and have incounrtered several issues.

When a mailbox is moved to 2003 the BB does not receive emails anymore, if it is moved back the emails work.

I have searched everywhere and have tried several solutions including the handheldcleanup.exe -m. But still the problem persists. I have verified that the BESAdmin has full control of on both servers. The BESAdmin mailbox is on the 2003 server, and all indications in the MAPI settings show the 2003 server.

Any suggestions?

After you move the Mailbox. stop and restart the Blackberry Enterprise Server.

If new mailbox is still not found use the handheldcleanup.exe tool usually found in;
C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Utility

[On the BES machine in Command prompt, Type;]
cd "C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Utility"
handheldcleanup -u
Exit

This Verifies if any mailboxes that have been moved.
If a mailbox has moved, the BES info for that user is updated

Restart the BES

I am also trying to move mailboxes between exchange servers.

The BES has updated the server from server1 to server4, an I have run the handheldcleanup utility using the -u and -m options but without sucess.

any other ideas?

thanks

Cracked it

in system manager alter the security permissions for the new server for the BES service account to allow access to administer information store, send as, receive as.

Hello,

We are slowly migrating users from a Exchange 2000 server to a Exchange 2003 server. With testing our own accounts, our BlackBerrys stop working. The way to resolve this is to do a Enterprise Activation.

Is there any official documentation on this process?

So your saying we need to give the BES Service account access on the new mailstore? How exactly is that done?

Sorry, just trying to get some more info here Don't want to have all our users have to reconfigure their BBs when we migrate them.

The same way you did when you originally set it up for the previous Exchange server. Just read the installation guide for the Exchange permissions and complete those same steps for the new server - and any future server you shall add as well.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

BESAdmin already has SA and RA permissions on all the stores.
