Default Advice - when composing new email

Please Login to Remove!

Need advice on the issue Iam having...

I can compose and send a new email to user A who I picked up by doing a GAL Lookup and when I go and send a different email say User B, I can see that it also lists User A (gives me the option to select) which is fine. However, I have seen that for some users regardless of how many times I send a email to them, they do not appear on the list again from which I can select them. i.e. If a sent user C and email and then wanted to send them another one, I compose an email and if I type their name in the To field, I would have expected it to show User A, User B and User C as I have already sent them a email before, btu all I see is User A and User B not User C. and I have to do a lookup again.

any ideas why this is happening ?

Are you saving that contact in your Address Book. When you do a Lookup you need to save the contact for it to remain on your BB. When you type the name it narrows down the names from your Address Book.

Check to see if you have saved User A and User B, odds are you didn't save User C.

That's what it sounds like to me. If that's not the case let us know.

I interpreted Kul's post differently, gibson_hg.

When you do a lookup, the data is cached on your BB for a certain amount of time, meaning that if you email the same user while the data is still cached, the lookup result appears in the addressing list along with any matching PAB entries, the lookup option and the use once option.

Unfortunately I have no knowledge about how long BB devices cache this info for, or why one specifi user's lookup won't be cached.

I am sure the lookup is cached for no more than few days.

when composing an email type the users name if the users name exists in the local address book it adds will automatically display this in the to field. If the users name does not exist it automatically goes straght to lookup.

Heres a tip once the lookup is performed highlight the name and click add.

This will add the address to the local address book and no need to lookup for that user again.
