Default Personal Blackberry and Corporate BES

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I have a user who wants to put their peronal BB onto our BES. I have read a few posts but nothing that answers my question. As far as I can tell all the users emails (both bersonal and corporate) will go to the same mailbox. If this is the case, is there any way to stop a user forwarding corporate emails from their personal account thereby circumventing any audting/security measures in place. ie. There will be no record of an internal email ever being forwarded as it was done from a personal account.

All will go to the same main message folder.

You can separate out the BES mail using Empower BES Mailbox. Check it out.

You as the BES Admin can log ALL mail, in and out, from whatever account.

The BlackBerry HH doesn't have a mailbox per-say. It is a client interface which caches data from a mailbox located on a remote server ... with that said, it doesn't separate the source mailboxes to different locations on the HH. E.g. if you have mail from [email address] and [email address] going to the HH, they'll both show up under the same icon. You can use features of newer OS's to have separate icons for BIS (personal) integrated accounts but the messages will still show up under the main messages icon / screen.

You can prevent this from happening by enabling the IT Policy: "Disable Forwarding Between Services"; it is located under the Security Policy Group. You could also disable copy / cut / paste on the HH, to prevent the person from copying the content of a corporate email to a personal email.

You could also disable "Allow Other Message Services" (under Service Exclusivity) which will force all messages (personal or corporate) to be routed out through your mail server. This doesn't prevent the HH from receiving mail from other message services (such as BIS). To do that you'd enable "Firewall Block Incoming Messages" under the Security Policy Group.
