I don't know if here is the right place. But here we are!!!

I have a single Exchange 2007 working perfect.

Recently we install a Blackberry Server 4.1.4 in a new computer.

We install all the pre-requisites (CDO 1.2.1, BES Account and Permissions (In the AD and Exchange Server).

Now we trying to activating the bes device (8300). So we add the user from browse in the GAL, and we set the "Activation Password"...

The user in the BES Manager says "Initializing", and in the device says Activating for the eternity....

I tried every forum looking for a solve for this problem.

So, anybody can help us, with the next step to resolve this issue??

Are you sure the device is provisioned properly with the carrier? Can you send a PIN message from the device to another device?

The device is provisioned. No doubt about this. When I start the activation a e-mail message come to my mailbox in exchange server 2007....

That is progress....Does the message disappear from the Inbox?

In the eventi viewer we have a waning message like this:
EventID: 20000
<username> Old OTAKEYGEN packet is cancelled, Tag=10

The message don't dissapear...anyway for that...

Yes, the BES should be taking that message out of the Inbox.

I'll move this thread to the BES Admin corner so teh other BES Admins can chime in.

I seem to be having the same issue here. I was away for 2 weeks and everything stopped working. Nothing is going out over the wireless, but connected to the server they sync up fine. Could this be a provider issue?

how can you say that for certain?

Only once you've proved that SIM card is connected to the correct plan by activating and using BES service can you be sure it's working - 1st rule of BB troubleshooting is to ignore what you carrier tells you until you've proved its definately correct.. (in my experience)

Just because it says GPRS / EDGE doesn't mean its provisioned correctly for BES purposes..

I am having the exact same issue. This is a new BES install though.

For the life of my, I can't get the PIN registered/activated. The email shows up in the inbox box when I try activating from my 8700 (yes, I can send from PIN to PIN - the carrier checked that). I have also checked and double checked on the permissions on the Exchange side to insure that BESAdmin has all the right permissions see: KB12483 on BB site.

So my symptoms are the following:
No PIN when I add a users.
Status stays at "initializing"
When I send activation from my 8700 the email lands in my inbox BUT stay in my inbox.

I am running exchange 2007 and BES 4.1.4

Any help would be appreciated.

And here is another with the same issue. I had things working fine with the previous software and only experiencing this problem since installing the professional version. I have been working on this for 3 days and going crazy - anyone figured it out yet???

Check the Event Viewer and see if there are any warngins that show that user.

Try the IEMSTest utility from a command line to test permissions. Check that the email with the ETP.dat attachment is not modified. The subject should not have SPAM/BLOCKED/NEW SENDER added to the subject line and the attachment should have text in it.

For most of you, is the BES on it's own machine? Are you usign the MAPI/CDO 1.2.1 client from Microsoft?

Can you resolve any of the users mailboxes when editing the MAPI profile? Go to the BlackBerry Server Configuration and click the BlackBerry Server tab. The click Edit MAPI profile, just enter a users mialbox and then click Check Name. Does it resolve? Don't save any changes, just click Cancel.

No events regarding specific user accounts.

IEMSTest utility ran ok. The .dat attachment is not modified.

BES is on it's own machine.

Mailboxes are resolved correctly when editing MAPI profile.

Keep 'em coming! I'm having faith that I'll find the solution here before I get results from support. LOL

Again, if it sits in mailbox then it is permission issue.

To rule out a pemrissions issue you could perform a switch service account:

This is the best way to rule out permissions and account issues. Follow that article to a tee and see what happens.

If not then it may be a mailbox issue. Are there any events in the event viewer or MAGT log for this user?

Well, I wish I could help others and tell you what I did to resolve my problem, but I can't because I did so many things! I followed the document above about permissions and no luck. I ended up totally uninstalling BES and reinstalling and got a little further, but still had problems. I finally wiped my BB and then I had success.
