I recently updated a client's BES from 4.1.2 to 4.1.4. I made a few mistakes in the update process (I didn't use the bes service account to do the update) but believe I have corrected all of those issues...

My one remaining problem is that I'm being prompted for the sa password when I open the Blackberry manager regardless of which account I'm logged in with. When I did the update I mistakenly chose ot use Windows Authentication to the SQL 2000 database. I've corrected the issue in the blackberry server configuration utility, tested the connection successfully and have followed this blackberry kb article to add the password to the registry:

The server's been restarted several times since the update... Any thoughts on how I can get the server to cache the sa password for the BESMgmt DB on the SQL box?

When I opened the BES management console with a user who has administrative priviledges on the BES I received a popup message stating that the trusted credentials failed to access the database.

The database connection window then appears and I have to type in the SQL dbowner username/password to access the database.

I spoke with the DBA's who added a new account to the BESMGMT database and made it a dbowner. The same symptoms occur when I configure the BES to use these credentials in the Blackberry Server Configuration utility.

Do I need to add the windows user name(s) or security group to the BESMgmt database for "pass thru" authentication to occur? If so what permissions do I need to give these users/groups?

Under Tools-Options in the BES manager, does it show you Windows or Database Authentication?

I would create a group in AD for a BlackBerry_Admin group and then add this group to the sql db. This way, everyone can use their windows authentication.
