Do the MDS services need to be installed and running for appropriate functioning of a BES server. The MDS service explanation states its for secure access to online applications and content on the intranet or internet. We don't make any internal applications avaiable to our blackberries so I don't see the need for it. Also, I would presume I don't need the MDS apache tomcat service either. The MDS service can be uninstalled from with BlackBerry Manager right?

It is also the BES conduit for the blackberry browser and any internet dependent applications on the device unless they go through the BIS. If you need access to your intranet, you need MDS running.
