Default BES E-mail Dump

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Just recently we had a user within the company who was not receiving e-mails for about 2 days. After looking into the BES side of it, it was recommends to try "purge pending data packets". we try it and after about 5 min the user was able to receive e-mails once again. However they made mention that 400 or so e-mails had all of a sudden been dumped into they're mailbox, a lot of which were e-mails they had already addressed and deleted.

We currently run Exchange 2000 with Bes 4.1 on Windows 2000 server.

is this a known problem for anyone else? or just a rare case thats unexplainable?

Thanks in Advance

Jesse

Prior to that happening was the user out of coverage for any period of time? Purging the pending emails shouldn't have caused deleted emails to return. Pending emails are ones that were never delivered, and a built up queue of them can cause mail not to deliver.

The BES does not keep track of mail so the fact that emails were "dumped" back into the mailbox is strange. Especially after being deleted.

I've heard of this before but I'm not sure of the cause. I would look into the user being out of coverage or the BB being turned off as that could have caused the pending mail to queue up.

The user was in the city during the period that they did not receive e-mails on the device. I too thought it was strange that e-mails would be dumped back in.
