<N/A> | BlackBerry Messaging Agent BESServer1 Agent 1 (Application Event Log on BESServer1) | 02/01/2008 09:01:27 (6FFFC364) -> Some worker threads have been blocked for 1 health checks

Hi all,

Recently i've started getting the above alerts come through from the BES every 10mins. These only really happen during the working day, out of hours its fine.

Any ideas? During working hours i'm seeing mail arrive in batches as well, about 2-3 batches of mail throughout the working day. Out of hours mail comes through a lot more regularly.

There have been some network issues on the BES (its a VM running v4.1). Load is minimal as there are only 5-6 users on the BES. Exchange environment btw.

Cheers,

Andy

Every 10 minutes the BES checks the health of the MAPI worker threads. This means that the thread is hung.

A few things to check:

1. Is the BES on it's own machine?
2. Is the BES local to Exchange? Ping times less than 35MS?
3. How many users are on the BES?
4. What time of day do these usually occur?

Odds are it's because the Exchange server is busy, and the fact that it's during regular work hours proves it. The Exchange is not taxed very much in the off hours so everything runs fine. As long as they don't continue to reach 6 health checks you're ok. After 6 the BES restarts that Agent to free the threads, but if it's just 1 health check once in a while it's ok. That will happen if the Exchange server is busy.
