Hi

Has anyone been able to successfully push the Bloomberg client from the BES to their devices?

If so, how? I've put the files in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared\applications and the used loader.exe to index them but the app doesn't show up when I create a software config although other apps do.

Can anyone direct me to a version that works and provide any instructions?

I've found it more useful to provide end users with the ota link to the app (Bloomberg RIM App Modules) for a few reasons.

1- B-Unit authentication is now required for each new install
2- Bloomberg updates this app without much advanced notice, so it's simply easier in this case for users to deal with it on their own time.

I guess that makes sense but it would be nice to be able to push it from the BES so we can control who has it.

We ask our Bloomberg users to download and upgrade on their own with that link, too. We try to control who has it by pushing a policy allowing 3rd party downloads only to those who need Bloomberg. Everyone else in our organization has application downloads disabled by our default policy.

Do a search, I have posted my issues with this and what I've done to push Bloomberg. The main issue is each new version they seem to mess up the ALX so the BES doesn't know it's a new version. The last two versions have works as I expected.

I download the latest version
Install on a desktop, go to prg files\bloomberg and copy all the loader files.
Overlay them in the BES shared folder
re-index
bake for 4 hours
BES should take a new inventory and then push the new version to users who have the bloomberg profile assigned
