Default BES 4.0 End of Lifed as of Jan 31, 2008

This means that depending on any issue you may be having RIM could require you to upgrade to a current version of BES as a solution.

You can still absolutely call with 4.0 support issues and you'll be assisted ... but just be aware that an upgrade could be a part of your solution.

Beat me to it, beatcheee!!!

Ohh well, here's the email I got from RIM on it this morning:

Quote:
RIM have made BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) software 4.0.7 end-of-life.

We provide technical support to all BES customers regardless of their software version. However for end-of-life software RIM will not develop any further maintenance releases or make new features available.

We remain committed to supporting and resolving issues experienced by our customers, but any technical issues identified for BES 4.0 customers that are not resolved through an upgrade to 4.0.7, will require an chargeable upgrade to BES 4.1 to be resolved.

Customers should plan to upgrade their BES 4.0 and BES 3.6 servers to the latest version BES 4.1.4

BES software 4.1 maintenance releases including some additional new features are due during 2008. We expect BES 4.1.5 to be available towards the end Q1 xxx8216;08 and some customers may prefer to wait for this new version before upgrading.

Not liking that "towards the end of Q1 08", I thought SP5 was due in Feb.

It was, and I'm guessing we still may see it shortly. There is a lot of barking about getting this damn SP released.

I'm sure it STILL is ... just not for all platforms. Maybe Novell will have the last release and that could be later this year, summer maybe? Just a guess.
