I have searched for this but have been unable to find an answer. I am going to be moving about 700 users from one BES to another this weekend, and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about the maximum number of users to move at once.
I was planning on moving about 50 at a time. Anyone ever run into any experience with this?
Our current sql database has about 5000 users on it, and we are running BES 4.0.5. Also, we are an Exchange house.
Thanks.

Batches of 50 are good. 100 would most likely be fine too. (the last bulk move of 1700 devices we did we did in groups of 100) Be smart about how you group the moves. Don't move all of the people with huge mailboxes at once. Don't pick users from every mail server to move in the same group. Be nice to the messaging agents and don't work all of them at once as you'll end up with hung threads.
Watch the memory / cpu utilization during the move and constantly review the ALRT / CTRL / MAGT logs for both servers before (so you have a baseline), during (to see if any problems are coming up), and after (to make sure it worked right).
I would also plan for after the move to schedule a reboot of the servers too.
Lastly, make sure you have the DBNS (Database Notification System) properly installed on your SQL server.
I personally do 20-25 at a time since last year when I was traumatized by my BES server's SYNC service freakout during a large move operation. Details are here:
Note, this was on 4.0, we are now on 4.1 and it is probably much more stable but cannot confirm, as I have never attempted more than 20 - 25 at a time since!
