Default Random RIM/Tilt/BES craziness - some devices affected not all?

Please Login to Remove!

Yesterday 2 of 7 Tilts running BBC to a BES server just up and quit communicating with it. They had full network access otherwise, and BBC even indicated that it was on the blackberry network, and had a valid IP.

This morning I tried resetting the phones, checking the status, disable and re-enable the radios, pop the batts, regenerate keys, etc etc... all to no avail.

After a couple hours on the phone with AT&T - they have me un-install bbc and re-install, and also delete and re-create the user account on the BES. This fixes the first of the two devices, and I am mid-way through doing it on the 2nd, and a 3rd device is then experiencing the same problem.

On the latter 2, it took multiple re-installations of bbc to get it to appear in programs and settings menus.

I am REALLY starting to hate these tilts - always little stupid things with them - suspending bbc on their own and not resuming, messages not reconciling, other random issues.

Since I have gotten these things, I am spending almost half of each day trying to keep them connected or reconnecting or god knows what else, that I cant get any of my real job done.

Does anyone know or have a similar experience regarding phones just randomly losing contact with the BES, some devices apparently at the same time? It is driving me mad.

And now I have two different BB devices which have decided to quit talking to the BES server as well, yet they show full connectivity to the BB network, and have connectivity to the net otherwise.

What the hell is going on!?! 5 devices in less than 16 hours all just up and stop talking to the BES.

I was experiencing the same problems a few months ago. I would have devices drop off the BES randomly and reconnect on their own 1-2 days later. I called RIM and their suggestion was to rebuild the BES, which was something I wanted to do anyway. So, I did that and was still experiencing the same problem. Since our devices aren't critical for most people, I started rebooting the BES nightly. I haven't had the massive numbers of users drop off since.

I still have a few, but that's due to coverage issues with our carrier. Not sure if that is a solution that will help you, but it's worth looking into.

I've also heard of devices reconnecting after sending a confirm message to the associated email.

why create a new thread on this? You were already getting answers in the other one.
