Default Filtering Multiple Contact Folders

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a way to filter mutilple contact folders from Syncing to the BlackBerry Devices? We are about to rollout new Blackberries and I have some users who have 4 or 5 different Contact folders. I only want the Primary Outlook Contact folder to Sync with the Blackberries.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Alan

the BB will only sync with the parent contacts folder. I assume what you mean by "multiples" is that they have created sub contacts list under their main contacts. None of that should sync at all.

I am pretty sure the blackberry will wirelessly sync with ALL contact folders in the mailbox. If there are subfolders they will sync. If you sync contacts via USB cable then only one (the main) will sync and you would have to choose the others via desktop manager. I think the only way to filter all folders would be to assign categories to each contact in each subfolder then on the blackberry you can choose to view only one filter

no, the BB will sync with all folders in the inbox (if you enable them either on the device or via the BES), but it cannot sync sub folders of calendars or contacts. I just tested this on my BB to be absolutely sure.

i have most of my contacts in subfolders in Outlook. All of the contacts sync, but the folders do not.

example: all of the contacts in my "Family" folder sync to the blackberry, but I am not required/able to open another folder on the BB. The contacts appear in the main screen.

I just tested it again, when I go to contacts, I have 3 Contact Lists, one called Contacts, Personal and ILTA. These all Sync to the Blackberry currently. I tested by Deleting a contact out of Personal and it disappeared off my blackberry. What I need to know is can I disable the Personal and ILTA from syncing with my Blackberry.

Thanks

Alan

The FOLDERs will not sync but all the contents of the folders do

You can avoid this by synching via USB cable and desktop manager

Forgive me since I am so new to this, but if I understand correctly, if I sync using the cable, only the "Contacts" will come over to the Blackberry. Will that be maintained when the device is synchronizing over the air?

Thanks

No - as soon as over the air (wireless) sync is turned on the subfolder contents will populate to the device
