Default .wav attachment max file size

Please Login to Remove!

We have unified voicemail from Cisco - all voicemails show up in our mailbox with a .wav attachment - and there appears to be some internal file size limitation on the BES for these files that I cannot find.

We are able to open (and listen to) most of these attachments on our devices just fine. However, yesterday I received a voicemail from a rather long winded person and I cannot open that .wav attachment (it's 1.4M - blech).

When I try to open it on my 8830, I get the error "attachment size exceeds server value".

On the BES, the max file size for .wav attachments is set to 0 - so it should not have a cap on the size...right??? I even used the Test Attachment Service to open the file and received an error (a smaller .wav attachment I tested this way worked fine).

Anyone else run into this? I *could* just set the file size manually to 1500K or something, but I would rather not if there is another fix.

BES 4.1.4 MR2; Exchange 2003, SP2

UGH. Found it. The max file size is 3MB and the max recording length is 3 minutes (and this attachment was 3:01).

I could hack the registry to change these values, but honestly...a 3 minute voicemail message? Cripe.....

Unable to open large WAV attachments

I was going to say, I would ignore someone who doesn't know how to leave a voicemail. Guess you can't do that, though. (Just kidding, but only a little.)

No joke...Just tell me why you're calling and tell me to call back or something. I don't need to know everything you did today.

Edit your announcement: . . . and if your message goes more than 30 seconds I will cancel it and ignore you." Or something like that.

That's an idea.

Or I could just say "If I don't call you back, I fell asleep listening to your long winded voicemail"
