Default Exchange services?

Please Login to Remove!

Which if any Exchange services should be started on the BES? I'm trying to track down a problem where I'm getting 1029 errors on our Exchange 2003 Server. I checked and it seems that the public folders do not get updated on the BES. I checked and the messages from Exchange to the BES do not get delivered just for replication of the public folders.

Are BES and Exchange on the same machine? BES should only need the Information Store service. Public folders don't sync to the BES anyways. The only folder not in a users mailbox then can access is the GAL, and they can only lookup people and add them one at a time.

Install Exchange System manager for CDO
for some reason the boneheads were replacing the version of CDO with some other version
probably from outlook and breaking the mapi subsystem
uninstall outlook CDO component (mso, outlook , custon)
and reboot
install exchange system manager
do MS update and reboot

by the way, reboot after each update - always a good idea
