Default Web Desktop Manager - allow use by users without BlackBerries

Please Login to Remove!

I installed the WDM at the request of one of our tech support groups who would like it to be available to their technicians to use when updating the firmware on handhelds of the users they support. They do this today with the regular desktop software. However, most of these technicians do not have their own BlackBerries. The WDM seems to only allow logon by users who do have a BlackBerry.

Is there any way around this other than setting up a shared account with an unused handheld and having all the techs log on using those credentials?

Only users in the BES database can log in to WDM. You can add them to the BES without having a blackberry, but other than that, no.

Just set up a network installation of Application Loader Lite. If that's the only feature they need in WDM, then that should be fairly easy to accomplish without the need for WDM for them.

Thanks, yeah, that's what they're using today. For some reason they prefer the WDM. I think we'll probably go with the shared non-privileged account that's added to the BES to avoid using up 20-30 licenses for them.
