Default Wipe device question

Please Login to Remove!

Running BES 4.1.4 and Lotus Domino 6.5.
99% of our users have 8703e from Verizon (no SIM card). A couple of users have their own Blackberrys. When the user leaves employment we wipe the device.
Today a user asked what happens to his personal address book that is stored in the SIM card of his AT&T Blackberry. Is his data also wiped?
Thanks for any info from those that have devices with SIM cards.

I think the SIM card is safe! But I don't have much experience wiping via BES. I know when I do a regular device wipe SIM info remains intact

The SIM card is never touched during a device wipe, regardless of how the wipe was initiated.

Your user is misinformed if he thinks his BlackBerry stored his contacts on the SIM card. The BlackBerry does NOTE write to the SIM. It uses it as a read only media. If numbers existed on the SIM from a previous phone those will still be there, but nothing from its time in the BlackBerry.

Make sure the customer understands or they are going to think that the wipe did it.

Thanks for the replies. I'll tell the user. I don't encourage personal Blackberrys, but then, we only have 2 other personal devices, the rest belong to the firm.
