Default BES Install

Please Login to Remove!

This is my first BES install and i have read a ton of documentation but i wanted to ask is there anything i need to know or should look for above all else?

This will be v4.1 and i am running Exchange 2003 SP2, this will support approx 15 blackberries.

I still haven't figured out what server within my organization i am going to put it on yet but thats a different story.

Thanks
Jeff

read the docs - especially BESadmins install thread above..

http://www.blackberryforums.com/bes-...es-thread.html

Things to check

1) Firewall port
2) Permissions
3) that the damned carrier has correctly provisiioned the device on the enterprise plan (fixes 30-40% of all BB Problems)

For the first device on a new bes I'd cable the device via USB and activate that way. this enables you to be sure bes is working ok, without worrying about EA issues that could be caused by anti-spam etc..

Thanks a bunch, i have read the mentioned thread which was great. And thanks for the heads up topics.

As soon as i figure out a server that i can put SQL on for this application i will be ready to go. I would like to have a server that does just BES but i don't have the hardware for that.

Can anyone advise me on this idea? SQL isn't really made for a VM type of setup, so what i have thought of doing is having server 2003 with SQL for BES, then a VM of server 2003 on top of it actually running BES so they are on the same "box" but independent OS's so i can maximize some of my hardware.

Thanks
Jeff

For 15 users; just install BES on the same OS as SQL and use that instance ... don't bother with the VM; it'll only complicate it further.
