Default Blackberry Professional Software upgrade to BES?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys,

I opened up a ticket with the Blackberry Support and they stated that there is no upgrade path for Blackberry Professional Software to BES.

Has anyone else upgraded? Is there a way to upgrade?

Hmm interesting question - my understanding is that you can purchase an unlock key to allow you to go above the 30 user license of BPS. What I'm not sure about is whether there's a way to 'add back in' the functionality that's missing from BPS which is in BES, but if your really needing LCS/OCS integration, mobile voice controls and the MDS bit then you've probably got the time/resource/money/people to start afresh on a new BES and keep the BPS for prototyping testing etc...

Hi Darthkim, i was able to upgrade BlackBerry Professional to BES for one of my customers. You have to purchase an upgrade license and just install the BES 4.1.4 upgrader software use the new SRP and you'll be fine.

Exactly - where in the past you merely added a CAL which altered the orientation of all prior CAL's to take you above the old SBE threshold of 15 users, with BPS you install the upgrader. God RIM's licensing is a bloody nightmare!

Thats a relief, I just got my new lisence and it would not work with current system.
Just downloaded the upgrade package and plan on deploying soon.
Rep also gave me her word in writing that I would have a tech walk me through the upgrade process. wish MR5 was a upgrade package, one more d/l to go.

Thanks all,

I just wanted to confirm, as we are nearing our 30 users, with another 30 waiting in the wings... I'd hate to have to rebuild out instance, due to this issue.

Knotttype,

Thanks for that confirmation. I believe we will make the jump also.
So did you download the SP5 upgrade and run in on the BPS 4.1.4 to upgrade to BES 4.1.5?

Technically RIM would be telling you that you don't have enough RAM!!!

Does anyone know if you can use the Domino BES 4.1.5 10cal free download keys on this product to get 10 cals?

Thanks
