Default Can't Wireless Synch Contacts on One Device

Please Login to Remove!

Help!

I have these options for PIM Sync on the BES Server:

Address Book
Synchronization enabled: True
Enabled on Device: False
Synchronization Type: Bidirectional
Conflict Resolution; Server wins

Note: For all other blackberry devices, this value of "False" is true.

Even more problematic, is that the setting is "Grayed out" so I cannot change it.

When I have the actual device in hand, and hook it up to the PC, and run the desktop manager software, I get this option, when I try to configure synch:

Address Book > Outlook
Calendar > Blackberry Wireless Synch

How come I can't get the Address Book on the Blackberry Curve to have a setting of "Blackberry Wireless Synch"? The option is not there at all.

This is the only device with this problem, as I said before, all of the others have "True" for Enabled on Device, as far as Address book PIM synchronization goes, but I can't get this device to get that setting.

How can I remedy this?

thanks for your help!

That setting is on the handheld -- open the address book - bring up the menu and choose options - scroll down to wireless sync - make sure it is set to yes.

if it is set to yes, disable it, save, wait a few minutes and reenable it through the same method

Hi, thanks for your help. What do I do when that option does not appear on the handheld, as in this case?

Seriously: I do not have that option. Whenever I go in through blackberry desktop manager and then toggle the Outlook synch on, then I do appear to get the wireless synchronization option available, but, I can not get this option to stay on.

Seriously, these are my address book options:

Sort by: Last Name
Confirm Delete: Yes
Allow Duplicate Names: Yes
Number of Entries: 668

There are 674 entries in the outlook address book. It appears that the contacts are not synching back and forth between the two.

Like I said in the original post, the wirelss synch setting is grayed out on the BES, as far as enabling it on the handheld.

And, it is also apparent that option that I attempted to set, is not available to me.

Default How I fixed the problem ....

This is how I was able to fix the issue in my case... (enterprise activation was not completed)

I referenced this article:
"DOC ID: KB14030" on blackberry.com/btsc
"Unable to synchronize the Address Book wirelessly during the enterprise activation process"

I noted that the enterprise activiation of my device actually had like 90% for the address book portion.
How did I see this?

Settings > Options > Advanced Options > Enterprise Activation

To fix this problem:

Settings > Options > Advanced Options > Service Book
Select the Desktop [Sync] Service book from the menu, and select "Delete"
From the menu, select "Undelete" to restore the "Desktop [Sync]" service book
Settings > Options > Advanced Options > Enterprise Activation
From the menu, select "Activate" to re-try the wireless synchronization process

Wait a while for the activation to complete ...
...
...
...
After a while you will get a message that it completed...

Then, check your settings for synchronization of your address book

Address Book > Menu > Options
You will see that "Wireless Synchronization" has a "yes" value again (as it had disappeared earlier, if you have the same exact problem as me)

Also, if you log on to the Blackberry Manager application, you will see this in the properties for the user in the
PIM SYNC settings:
Address Book
Wireless synchronization set to "true"

Have a nice day!

Note: I am the same "technotes" who posted this at the wireless att forums

Note2: When I say "Blackberry Manager" I am referring to the server application for managing all Blackberry users, not the desktop application by similar name. Sorry for any confusion this may cause.
