After upgrading to BES 4.1.5 users have been getting delays on the delivery on their devices, When messages are received, they are being received in batches (x number of messages received at the same time regardless of when they were sent).

BES version is 4.1.5 (latest update)

Check RIM's site and/or google for the symptom you describe. If it's a problem in the software, someone else will have found it by now, so you won't be the only one with the problem.

I am willing to bet that email gets delivered every 15-20 minutes. It sounds to me like the BES is not getting notified of new mail, so it rescans the mailbox in 15-20 minutes and then sees the new mail.

Check the basics first:

1. Versions of MAPI32.dll between BES and Exchange
2. If Exchange is not local ping the server, anything over 35MS could be a factor
3. You have a patch from Microsoft installed that is blocking the BES from getting notifications

You can test the delay theory by sending a user some emails with <confirm> in the subject line. You will get a response back when the user receives the email. That will give you a timeline.

The Microsoft patch that I was referring to is KB902400. You could uninstall this patch and then you have to disable and stop the Distributed Transaction Coordinator service. Then reboot the BES, not the services but the BES itself.

I'm not sure why this breaks the BES, RIM was working with Microsoft to fix it but there is no public KB for it yet.

... you realize BES 4.1 SP5 is not publicly available yet? Have you made any other changes in your environment? archiving software? antivirus software? spam filters?

I haven't made any changes, I only installed an upgrade for the exchange console.

The problem seems to be only with a couple of users, and I also noticed that the server performance is running slow, I connect thru dameware and the connection is quite slow.

Let me check which KB is the one I installed...

There is no KB902400 installed on the server...

What email server and client? Are you receiving in batches on the client?

exchange 2003, client is outlook 2007... is that what you mean?

I beleive it is but only for Pro BES version not Enterprise.

I'm experiencing this exact same (slowness to process emails and getting clumped on the handhelds) thing and getting the same messages in my event viewer.. any updates to this?
