I am about to begin a Exchange 2007 transition but don't know what the best way to go about it. I have two other servers (Dell PowerEdge 1900 and Dell PowerEdge SC600) that I want to move both of the services to (1900 is for Exchange and SC600 for BES). I know I will need to end up with BES 4.1.4 to get everything working with Exchange 2007. I just don't know what would be the best order to do everything in. Here is what my best guess is.
1. Upgrade the BES on the GX110 to 4.1.4.
2. Install Exchange 2007 on PE1900.
3. Migrate mailboxes from 2900 to 1900 running Exchange 2007.
4. Join BES on GX110 to Exchange 2007
5. Migrate BES users from GX110 to SC600.
Anyone have any other ideas? I am confident in my Exchange abilities but I would be hesitant to consider myself even knowlegable about BES. So, any help from you experts is greatly appreciated.
You have the right idea ... give How to Migrate BES from Exchange 2000 or 2003 to Exchange 2007
a read on how to deal with the Exchange part. As far as BES goes, search here and at RIM BTSC
for info on a knife-edge cutover / migration and come back with some specific questions about these methods if you have them.
