Default BES Health Monitoring

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone implemented any of the products available to monitor the overall system health of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, and the entire environment for that matter?
I have found a few Boxtone (BlackBerry Alliance Partner), Ancoris (Microsoft Certified Partner), and Cerience (both BlackBerry and Microsoft Partners)....

We're running a single instance of BoxTone to monitor 19 BlackBerry servers with a total of 6,000 users around the world. In addition, our entire BlackBerry troubleshooting process for our help desk and deskside support groups has been completely rewritten to use BoxTone's Help Desk module (troubleshooting cut from ~10-25 minutes to less than a minute). Anything in particular you want to know?

Default Boxtone...

We are running SCOM in our environment as well, but I'm leaning more towards a dedicated BES monitoring product. We will most likely have to send out an RFP and that sort of stuff, as we are municipal government....

Does Boxtone inform you of latency issues, and where the causes lie? As well, as how soon do you know about latency? (this seems to be our biggest issue)! Wow 6000 devices....we have 2 BES, 530 devices (and climbing quickly), and a RepliGo server as well....

Latency for messages being delivered to the devices? If so, yes and it gives a general diagnosis of the issue and some known resolutions. The threshold for alarming is configured by you (in this instance, although some others are learned values based on 'normal behavior', such as message flow).

PM me your information if you want me to shoot it over to my account managers to contact you. Let them do a demo for you and it'll likely sell you on the product. I know BoxTone has quite a few accounts with more users than my environment, so it's very scalable.

By the way, I've never heard of the other two monitoring solutions you mentioned.

We do take care of latency issues and allow you to pinpoint exactly where the latency occurs ( between mail and bes, on the bes, or bes to device )

We run basic netIQ event log and service monitoring on our 5 BES servers supporting 7000+ handhelds. We also have direct level 5 support from RIM

BES is pretty stable these days, but what you end up with will no doubt depend on the type of SLA's you have in place for the service.

Well we are in desperate need!! We have 3 exchange 2003 clusters, and 2 BES servers. There are some major performance issues, and Microsoft is blaming Blackberry...anyway, any help would be super. I will PM you my info!

So what happens if you shut down both BES servers? Does performance of exchange comes back to normal?
