Default Replacing BES this weekend

Please Login to Remove!

I am replacing my BES server this weekend. Basically replacing it with anopther server , but using the exisitng databases so we dont have to add the users again.

My question is , will the emails that are received during the outage be relayed to the BES once it is back up? or am I SOL?

TIA

If you do a knife edge cutover this won't be an issue. If you have no BES in place for a period of time those emails are lost because the BES will never know they were sent.

The knife-edge cutover should work as long as you plan it out, understand the process and follow the setup instructions to a tee. Most times something is missed during the setup process.

If this is BES 4.1.x move the database first, then install the BES without starting services. As long as you can see everything on the new BES and it looks the same then stop the services on the old BES and start them on the new BES. It will seem like the BES was restarted to the users, very little impact.

Feel free to ask any questions that will make this process easier for you.

Please remind me what Exchange components, if any, need to be installed on the new server.
