So he will keep buying additional hardware /windows server licenses to avoid that?? On the top of everything trouble of upgrading and troubleshooting more then one BES. Doesn't sound as a much of the save for me.

BES SMB comes free with 1 CAL (well now BPS) and they may already have the additional CALs. only cost would be additional servers (if necessary, they may be in place). If they are in place, then there is no cost, just additional troubleshooting.

But they would need separate DBs,right? So pin lookup be limited to lookup just users from their own db i think. But they could still use their individual licenses if they upgrade to full BES. Anyway, personally would not do that. Just swallow the loss one time and go on with your life.

Yep, SBS and BPS have different DB schemas.

BPS will take SBS and Enterprise CAL's.

Agreed. Having lots of instances is a bit of a fudge if you ask me. You might as well purchase the 1 time upgrade pack and be done with it. Less maintenance, less hassle, less hardware.

Wink

2 BES PRO servers in same domain?

I thought it would be good too. We are now running Full BES because of this post.

BES full 2800.00 upgrade with 5 licenses.

Let look at what you would need for a second box:
5 licenses = 500.00
server and os at dell sc1435 = 1640.00

End result:
yep looks like you only save about 660.00 or 760 because of the free license you may get running another server. Not worth saving 760 for a new box. Maybe if it were virtual......

and dont forget cooling, power, UPS, antivirus, space, etc.

What am I missing here? You only have 20 total cals? Why not use Blackberry Professional since it supports up to 30?
