Default All BB web traffic going through corporate network - how do I stop this?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Currently, all BB web traffic is going through our corporate network, it doesn't matter if I use Blackberry Browser or Internet Browser, it still gives me an IP from our internal provider rather than Verizon. How can I fix this? This used to work properly.

We are using BES 4.1 and have MDS enabled.

Thanks.

The BlackBerry Browser always uses MDS-CS on the BES.

The "Internet Browser" should simply use the carrier's network and not go through BES.

Using BES IT Policies, you can force the dvice to only use the BlackBerry Browser. Perhaps this is what's going on with your devices?

Curious that many of the new devices - depending on provider don't have the "Blackberry Browser" anymore, just "Browser"? This is what I've seen with many of our AT&T users on BES 4.1.4; however we do use MDS so the Admins most likely have that enforcement that you speak of. Thanks.

The icon says "Browser" but you can edit which browser you're using by selecting "Go To" and then changing the browser before going to the site of your choice.

Thanks all... penquin is right. It seems to be working now.

Jagga - there is an IT Policy setting that will allow you to have seperate icons for Browser and Blackberry Browser. I found this last night in my digging around.

What is the benefit of using either browser. I have hosted BES that I purchased myself. I can do either way. Is there a good reason to switch between them?

hopefully whomever you purchased the hosted solution through is a BlackBerry Alliance partner, otherwise its illegal for them to host

and do you have an IT policy set other than the default?

Yes, they are an Alliance Member.

I have not specified any IT policies but I am not sure if they have specified any. I know when I try changing to MDS it seems to limit file download size if I am downloading ringtones while setting up my new device. It sure seems fast this way though!

If I have no IT department monitoring traffic, do I care which browser then?

John, many thanks! I didn't realize that after clicking on "Go To" and at the address entry field, simply clicking on the Menu Key gives the option to also "Change Browser". REALLY REALLY Cool!
