Default Managing Corporate Contacts (Email & Phone)

Please Login to Remove!

I'm looking for feedback on how you BES admins manage your corporate directory/contacts...

Right now in my Exchange Global Address List I have all employees listed with their respective email/ph#/etc...

When someone is assigned a BB, I copy these contacts to their Personal Address Book.. of course this is a problem because if I ever make a change in the Global Address Book it doesn't propogate..

There MUST be a better way of doing this?? I hope.....

Any feedback is appreciated

Welcome to the forums.

I *never* copy the entire GAL to a user's device (we have about 10,000 employees). The user can use the device's 'Lookup' feature to find the people they need to email (and can then add those people to their personal address book). There is no need for copying the entire address book - it's very unlikely (especially in our case) that the user will need everyone's email address and it takes up space on the device that can be used for other things.

I should have mentioned this in my original post..

The reason we copy contacts from Global -> PAB is because the users want the phone numbers..

If that wasn't a requirement then I'd just tell them to do Lookups..

Unfortunately it IS a requirement and a real PITA!!!

I manage them by not managing them. The BB does an excellent job of performing lookups against the GAL and we find that suffices. If folks want a specific GAL address they are shown how to copy it to their contacts which replicate to the BB.
