Smile Combine IP re-addressing and upgrade of the BES

Please Login to Remove!

Good morning all,

I currently have a BES with 80 users running version 4.0.6.12.

This is running on very old hardware and as we are now moving it to a new environment I was thinking of installing the latest version and moving the users over. Another difference is the fact that the new server will be on a new network (new IP, etc.)

Does anyone have any experience in doing this? Can the new IP break this?

I was also wondering what the risk is for moving all those users to the new BES version...

Many thanks in advance for your pointers.

G.

Are you basically intending to set up a whole new BES server, run the 2 BES's in conjunction, and migrate users across?

If I were you, I would do a step at the time. Is SQL local or remote? IP address does not matter as long as latency is low or zero between BES and Exchange.
I'd do something like this:
In place upgrade of current BES to a latest 4.1.5.
Then cutover migration to a second one.
