Default Permanent Deletes and Folders Not Synching

Please Login to Remove!

We have a user who has a rule set up in his Outlook to take all messages with "BULK" in the subject line to move it to a folder and then permanently delete it. The odd part about this is that he still gets the messages on his handheld, but the rule works fine on his desktop. Also, on his handheld, the messages aren't filed into his BULK folder, they come right to his inbox.

So to test this, I created a Test folder in my inbox and set a rule that says, "If Subject contains BULK then move to Test Folder." I sent myself an email with the subject line of BULK and Outlook filed it correctly. Unfortunately, my handheld didn't. If I view the folders, I can see the Test folder, but there is nothing in it.

I would like for folder synchronization to work for all folders, not just my inbox. Help please?

Thanks.

Was it an exchange rule or Outlook rule? If other server type ignore the rest.

If it was an outlook rule then the BB will get the message in the inbox.

Exchange rules happen before it reaches the mailbox and moves it to the folder.

That's exactly what I was thinking is that his rule is an Outlook rule and not an Exchange rule. I made mine an Exchange rule, and it never made it to my BB. Is that how it is supposed to work? I would think not.

I had that same problem with an Outlook rule that moved messages. What happens if your Outlook rule also marks the item as read? When I added that, the messages got filed on the handheld.

I'll play around with the rules a little more when I get back to the office.

Unless the folder that you are moving the message to has been enabled for redirection to the BB, then the message will never appear.
