I installed BES Service Pack 5 on a working BES 4.1 server and now my blackberry server doesn't work. I can't send out to internal or external accounts. And if I add a new user it just sits at initializing in the Blackberry manager.
Here are some of the errors I get on my mail server:
The description for Event ID ( 20406 ) in Source ( BlackBerry Controller ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 'MAIL' agent 1: will not restart - reached the maximum of 10 restarts per 24 hours.
and....
[BIPP] Connection failed
Anyone have a clue why a service pack would break everything?
I used the admin account to do the upgrade and it wants me to edit the mapi profile which I do. I add my mail server and the mailbox name: besadmin is there anything else I have to do? do I need to set a schedule on the remote mail tab?
After installing SP5 under the besadmin account the only errors I get are:
Source: Blackberry controller
Event ID: 20406

Under blackberry server config on the blackberry server tab I changed the following info:
router host is now set to: the host name instead of the IP of my mail server
Attached host is now set to the host name instead of the IP of my mail server and now the only error I get is this one:
Source: Blackberry controller
Event ID: 20406

the other errors I reported earlier are no longer appearing, but I still can't send or receive email...anything else I should check?
