Default Changing the IP Address of the BES

Please Login to Remove!

I'm running BES 4.0 for Exchange w/ SP1 and all hotfixes. As part of a move to a new data centre, we're re-addressing all the servers. Other than updating the appropriate firewall rules, is there anything else I need to look out for when I change the address on the BES? Is the SRP key somehow related to the IP address? The reason I ask is that we changed the address yesterday, but I was unable to connect to the wireless network, receiving an error about verifying the sRP key and checking ports. The firewall techs insist that the rules are correct. Chanign back to the old IP fixed the problem

Any help would be appreciated.

Couple of things. Verify if you have any DNS info that it's updated externally. That might cause a problem.

Secondly, you might have to restart BES to re-initiate the SRP connection. I'm not sure how often it actually connects and sends it's info (ip addy/hostname) to RIM's relay servers, but that might be one of your problems as well.

Not sure how an internal server's DNS entries would matter, though. I'd say this is the firewall configuration, imo. The only thing tied to the BES server is if you are running the database locally and you change the server name. There are no IP addresses kept in any portion of the BES.

If you changed IP subnets, then there will most likely be a different firewall rule set up for that subnet. I'd say that they need to check their rules again to make sure the new subnet is set up with the same permissions and rules as the former subnet, for your purposes.

I'd say that bfrye hit the nail on the head with his last part... change the IP and reboot the server (not just the services) and see if that works. You will want to open BlackBerry Server Configuration, click on the BlackBerry Server tab and click on Validate SRP Key and ID.

Thanks for the comments guys. I did reboot the server after the change and clicked on the validate SRP key button, which is when the error was generated. My hunch was that this was a FW issue, I just wanted to make sure that I had the correct information when I go back to them.
