Talking Migration Recommendation 4.1.5

Please Login to Remove!

ok this is what I'm dealing with. I have a 4.0.6 BES server with it's DB (BESMgmt) on a SQL 2000 instance. I also have a NEW 4.1.5 BES Server with it's separate DB (Blackberry) on a SQL 2005 instance (it shares the DB with a 4.1.4). I need to move my 4.0.6 users upto 4.1.5 server. I'm trying to find the best way. I can't upgrade the 4.0.6 server since it's not a well performing VMWare instance and I would just like to get rid of it in the end.

This is what I was thinking on doing.
1. Move 4.0.6 DB (BesMgmt) to the SQL 2005 instance
2. Upgrade the 4.0.6 DB to 4.1.5
3. Point my current 4.1.5 Server to this upgraded DB (Besmgmt). I would just scrape it's current DB (blackberry)
4. Migrate my users via mgmt tool to the 4.1.5 Server. that way I don't have to worry about upgrading the poor performing VMWare instance.

Any thoughts or feedback. Anybody gone thru this?

What's wrong with the VM? Did you build that server from scratch or did you do a physical-to-virtual conversion?

VMWare instance has to many resources on it and I can't allocate more to my BB instance. My 4.1.5 vmware instance has everything I will need and more. I just need to move it to the 4.1.5 which is at a different location (datacenter). It's built from scratch.

Ok how does this sound?
1. I will have to upgrade my 4.0.6 server DB to 4.1.5
2. Scrap my current 4.1.5 blackberry DB
3. Point my 4.1.5 server to the newly upgraded 4.0.6 DB in step 1
4. migrate users then
