I have a Curve and just setup BES for my organization. I am new to using a Blackberry and the BES software. How do I set my phone to display my work (BES) email by itself in a standalone folder like my external email accounts? I do not like that it all goes into my "Messages" folder even though I have SMS and Email folders set to separate. I can change the view to just view my Inbox, but when I exit and go back into the Messages folder on my Blackberry, everything is there again!

You can't: We use policies to make sure of it. Check with you administrator to see if personal email is allowed.
Ok, so again excuse my lack of knowledge, but I downloaded the Empower software from my BB and it works great. I'd like to be able to push it out to the other BB users using the Blackberry Manager but when I click "deploy applications" it just tells me that the request has been queued. Is there a way to actually deploy software to BBs like this? In my mind, the functionality is about the same as pushing software to users using group policy.
I have downloaded the trial. There are only 7 users in my company (we are small) using BB's so purchasing licenses for everyone is no problem. I want to make sure everyone is happy with the product first, however.
And no, I have not setup a software configuration in the BES. That is the question I was asking how to do. I am in the middle of a T-3 Turn up this week and have not been able to sit down and research yet =/
Grab yourself a copy of the BES administration guide and read up on Software Configuration.
That is the part of BES that you'll use to wirelessly deploy applications.
Also, check with the Empower people to make sure they support this. You'll need to get a copy of the Empower software in .ALX/.COD format, so it can be delivered via BES Software Configuration.
There is actually a add-on for 4.1.5 that does just this:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1 Service Pack 5 (4.1.5) introduces a feature that allows the administrator to add an icon on the home screen of each BlackBerry smartphone in a BlackBerry domain. This icon will allow BlackBerry smartphone users to list only messages which are received from their organization's BlackBerry Enterprise Server. This feature sets a flag in the service book, which will turn on or turn off the icon. The name of the icon will be the same as the name of the service book, as specified in the Message service display name field on the Advanced tab of the Email Settings applet of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I tested it on my lab BES and it works the only negative is the Icon is called "desktop" and there is no way to edit this name. I'd like it to be labeled like 'Company name email'

Can one use Desktop Manager (connected to the mail server) to change this? I've seen a setting in there where the "Desktop" can be changed to something else. I've never messed with it though.

Doesn't this add-on require handheld OS 4.5?
EDIT: According to the KB article John Clark linked to... Handheld OS 4.5 is a requirement.
Users can use DM to change the name but we stopped deploying DM when we moved to 4.1 and we have no way of forcing the name to be a convention for consistensy's sake.
They must've updated the OS req as I had this running on my 4.2.2 curve a month ago. I called T-Support and there is no current way to control the icon name from the BES so until so I won't be turning this on.
