If our DB goes south including our backup of the DB what options do i have. We are running Exchange 2003 and our DB is on a MS SQL 2000 server. I see that Dominos has the Nbesmigration.exe. Does anything like this exist for Exchange/BES?

Do I have to start from scratch? Reactivation of the BES users?

If you lose your database, and also lose your backups of the database... then you're pretty much finished.

You'll have to create a new database, and start from scratch, which will include recreating and reactivating every user.

This is true for all platforms. (Domino, Exchange and Groupwise.)

I gotta wonder what prompted that question..... ?

We are up and running but some "OTHER" group is stating we need to rebuild our sql server (db maybe corrupt or some other reasoning). Our 4.0.6 server is running fine and I don't see any problems being reported on the server. Still if worst case scenario I will move them to our 4.1.5 server (separate DB in itself).

Check out my post below on getting back up and running immediately after a total SQL loss (Domino platform). It has some serious drawbacks, but it did work in my testing in getting email delivery going while a more permanent recovery is in process. (i.e. manual device re-activation on a new SQL db)
