BES - Disable USB data port transfer syncs Is there a policy of some sorts where I can disable our coporate handhelds from being hooked up to a computer and having data *synched off of it * ? |
a password. |
?? Not like password protecting the handheld. Meaning I don't even want the employee itself to be able to sync data off... |
Well, I'll quit thread crapping and let some BES Admins answer but I think there is a policy for restricting Desktop Manager use, isn't there? |
you can disable the media card and usb mass storage mode via IT Policy or disable the usb using group policy HOWTO: Use Group Policy to disable USB, CD-ROM, Floppy Disk and LS-120 drivers |
I'm going to pull the article on the IT policy. Group policy won't work in my case, as the concern is moreso offsite synching. |
I'm not sure which version of the BES you are using but for Exchange vs 4.1 and above you can go to your user policy and look at the following; Security Policy Group - Disable USB Mass Storage - Enable Right underneath this option are two other topics mentioned Disable External Memory Disable Media Manager After making changes to the policy that is assigned to your users, you can either wait for the policy to auto apply at a scheduled time, or you can highlight the users then right click and choose "resend it policy" |
